The Connecticut Pre-Apprenticeship High School Training Program will deliver a program (up to twelve days) either in person or virtual. Our instructors will inform your students of the opportunities available to high school graduates in the Highway Construction Industry. Upon completion of the program, exceptional students may be eligible for work based learning opportunities.
Funding is provided by the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
There is no cost to your school for instructors, materials or transportation.
• Instruction is provided by working professionals who impart real life experiences
• Program partners include the Carpenters, Electricians, Iron Workers, Laborers and Operating Engineers Unions
• Students receive a hardhat, safety glasses, work gloves, safety vest and equipment bag
• Students may earn OSHA 10 Hour, Flagger and CPR/FIRST AID/AED certifications
• Field trips to the Carpenters, Electricians, Iron Workers, Laborers and Operating Engineers Unions apprenticeship training centers include hands on experiences
• Ideal participant: a senior who is entering the work force upon graduation
• Participation is limited to 20 students per program
• Classroom requirements: audiovisual equipment and access to the internet every day
• Program may include hands on community improvement projects
• Program graduates are eligible for support services including notification of employment opportunities, resume review and interview preparation
• Program graduates are eligible to apply for driver's license school scholarships
• Program components may be delivered in person or virtually
